Lately Lakeport has begun to make me looney. Some seem to find that a bit too entertaining. My heart is not in Lakeport anymore. I think it took the first plane, boat, train back to Rexburg and is not waiting for me somewhere on the BYU-Idaho campus. Maybe at my favorite mexican food restraunts... either way it has been gone for a little over a week now.
I can't seem to convince it to return to me. My poor heart was going to come visit for X-MAS because I was going to stay in Eureka... but plans changed I am suffering the consequences :(
hahaha ok so that was like so completely emo. I think that made me a little to happy to write out my emotions about living in this town. I have so much to tell people. I was asked if I would accept a scholarship for Student Living. That is the program that I have been working with at BYU-Idaho. They are getting rid of the RA system and instead trying to implement a higher law where the students are holding up the standards. Then there are other things like boys, friends, classes, a social life.
I am looking forward to so many elements of college this coming year. I am trying hard to put my faith in Heavenly Father. Next semester should be intense but I know I have some special people that will keep me going. :)
Ok well until I am there... I will be dreaming of Idaho.

Unseen blessings.
When I left Idaho last summer I never could have imagined the wonderful blessings that awaited me in California. Two weeks after I got home from school I was swept on up to Eureka to help the Davis family. I was so nervous. Being only 19 years old and not really knowing what I was to do. Babysitting the Davis kids was not a new thing to me. I loved babysitting for them because the kids were very loving. But being a nanny made me nervous especially because I was to nanny for people I knew and respected so much. The circumstances were also not common. I was nannying for the Davis family, but sister Davis would be there. She would observe what I did and how I handled myself. That was extremely nerve racking. Little did I realize that Heavenly Father had a plan and it was much deeper than simply nannying for the Davis family.
I have gained a deeper understanding this past summer/fall that Heavenly Father has a greater plan, than even I could have assume. Just thinking about all the marvelous things that have accompanied me in one year seems to put me into awe. During the winter semester I had wanted to go work during the following fall (2008) in an orphanage, then I wanted to be a nanny. I found several things I desired but never felt that I should commit to. Then during the summer semester I was hit with the answer to return home? haha what? No way! I love BYU-Idaho and if I can't do something fun, I really didn't see the point in leaving. I decided to test Heavenly Father, yeah that does not work... I was like ok I will say I am going home, be like Abraham with his son Issac. hmm... yeah. Then I actually did go home. During the process of planning my return to my parent's house. My dad and mom were very skeptical of this idea. Me having no social time could cause a lot of "issues" haha. Never the less they allowed me to return and my dad was convinced I would only last two weeks in Lakeport.
He was right. Because on the Saturday that marked two weeks I was taken to Eureka!
My older Sister Nicole would babysit for the Davis family before I ever did. Once though Nicole was unable to babysit and I was called over, then it became my role to help babysit for the Davis family. Immediately I was overwhelemed with the attitude of the children, and the parents. Both Bro. & Sis. Davis expressed a great appreciation for the service I was able to provided them. I adored babysitting Emily because she was so easy to put to bed. I would lay her down with her "blankey" and she was OUT! No joke. Spencer was a talker.... he tired me out but I realized the great knowledge he would have one day. I always felt appreciated by the entire family.
Diana Davis and I had the opprotunity to know one another while she served in young womens. During the summer before my senior year I rode up to Girl's Camp with Diana and Nancy Craig. They also took a young girl who had a hard life. While traveling I was able to really understand who the two women were that sat in the front seat. Sister Craig got lost and Sister Davis told hilarious stories about her experiences at Girl's camp. By the end of the trip. Diana and Nancy had taken me both ways and had talked to me about Social Work, and sacred things. Diana was pretty much the woman I looked to as a younger mother who had such great faith in Heavenly Father.
Little did I know throughout the years, Sister Davis was being prepared for a time when I would help keep her house together. The little unseen miracles that keeps Heavenly Father smiling I am sure of it.
Serving at the Davis house where the heck do I begin? Honestly, what I did was amazing. I gained a testimony in so many areas. Ok I think I will just tell a few short experiences.
kids: Spencer 8, Emily 3, Adam 1 1/2, Samuel unborn.
* Spencer had the flu so he stayed home sick from school. I don't remember if he had thrown up by this point. But Bro. and Sis. Davis were i their bedroom talking when Carin Lund showed up. Completely out of the blew, she said she felt she needed to just stop by. She sits down on the paino bench after I explain that we are fine, but Spencer is sick. She and I were talking when she looks over at Spencer and tells him he isn't looking so shabby. Almost immediately Spencer begins the throw up process... I was HORRIFIED. I hate blood, poop, urine, and throw up. Spencer ended up throwing up. Sister Lund immediately began cleaning it up in the bathroom.. because Spencer failed to make it on time. Then she turns to me and says- "I can leave now." Heavenly father knew at that time I was not ready for that type of situation... he sent me an angel.
* Too bad those times didn't last. :( Yes, I am afraid I dealt with ever single one of those ugly situations. I changed diapers, I cuddled babies, cleaned poop of walls and bums. Cut baby fingers, peeing on pants at the park, cried for my mom "she is far far away" (Thanks Emily) There is something very sacred in carrying for a child who needs you to provide for them.
* Thinking of late nights at the Davis house crack me up. My ice cream time was after the kids, so was bonding time with Diana and Tony. I learned that compromise is important and loving your husband even with his flaws. The simple moments I had with those two will forever be engrained in my heart.

Making the decision

Well I have been in Rexburg since September only going home for a month for x-mas break. I absolutely love where I am at in life. Have great friends, success in my studies, growth in leadership, and the occasional crush. Although my life is pretty much established here @ school and in this community which I like to call Utopia. I have decided to return back to California for the Fall 2008 semester and be with friends and family. Sad thing is I don't really want to go home.
My life is mine here. No parents to answer to, no reason to get a car, social activities, free services (gym, computer techs, wellness center). I think the hardest part about returning home is not feeling like I really have anyone who cares. Richard told me off the other day basically clarifying he doesn't want to be friends with me because he has a girlfriend. That is ridiculous! Naomi and I talk but she has college and her own life. Kyle, Tammy and all the other young people are still in high school, including Richard. I just think that I will stick to my home nest and chill out reading books for 5months and working my little tail off.
My life is completely different then what it was September 7th, 2008. I don't miss what I had a year ago because it wasn't right. I miss having a relationship but that's all I had at the time. Anyhow I am getting off on a tangent and I just wanted to inform anyone who reads this off my plans for the fall... adios.

the google world
I find it amazing the things you can find on google! Honestly my roommate Greta and I were saying names of "people" we know at BYU-Idaho and looking them up online. I am scared what people find on me when they actually find all the different article on me.... there's a lot, CREATIVITY IS NEEDED! I looked my sister jessica up on google( editors error... I was on YAHOO images) and then went images to see if I could find some soccer pictures and instead I find me, at her wedding!

Out of my element
I can already tell Summer semester is going to be a little more complicated then I am going to want. This might make a few happy and a few upset but I don't really want to deal with the opposite sex this semester. BYU-Idaho is different then what I thought it would be, I am just another pea in a pod. Sometimes I miss good ol' Eureka where I was a leader, a stand out, and everyone seemed to know me as a "mormon girl". I fit in, but I strive to stand out and be unique.
Today I had my first day at the livestock where I met the horse I will be riding. She is a beautiful mare with creme hair. Golden Hans and I became friends instantly... after bridling her , combing and picking her clean we brought the horses into the arena. I was able to see how she interacts with over ten other horses when we let the horses loose and all us students went and stood behind behind a 5 1/2 ft. wall. Golden is older and so she can't keep up with the others ones but I bet when she was young she was a beauty to all the Stallions. I felt bad for her though because she wanted to be there with everyone- I guess watching the horses made me evaluate how I am in my own life. Am I ok to be on the outside and not apart of the group, do I badly want to be with the crowd even if they bite and buck me, or can I be a leader with a little "l".
Well I miss having my place in a crowd. I miss my friends and the way I was able to associate with them. Maybe in time I will create friendships where I can lean on others for support. Greta, my roommate is a good start. I hope people enjoy my blog. I accept being a blue personality where I need people to love me!!!!!
Have a great day.

round three?
I love being on my third semester of BYU-I. Crazy to think that all my Fall 2007 friends have returned and I still have my Winter friends. Everyone claims I am Miss. Popular, but it is actually pretty overwhelming. I walk around campus and people grab me, yell my name, and they each expect me to know their names lol. Today was the first day of the summer semester. I have Greta as my roommate (fall semester roomie), a brazilian, and a senior. This is going to get interesting especially because I am begining to become my old self.
I have two classes each day, I hate it because on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I am out by 10AM!!!! LAME. I enjoyed meeting up with old friends and new ones today. I have a confession for anyone reading this blog. I currently have a slight crush. He is a RM. I sincerely claim he wont go anywhere because he doesn't want a relationship and I don't think I am mature enough to handle one.... especially one that involves this young man. He is way over me in looks and we are opposites in personality. He lives on the edge and I want to know how to stay away, that little bugger. He is a good guy, but I don't think we could come out alive. Names are dangerous so I will give you a description. He has dark hair, brown eyes, chapped nose and lips (we worked on a ranch over spring break together). He is 6'3'' hahah yeah I know funny! Oh and did I mention he has a dark tan? Anyways that's all anyone will know because it is nothing. moving on....
Tomorrow I have two classes and devotional. Social problems is my 9am class and then I have a 3:15 class called interpersonal communications. And no I will not pay anyone a hundred dollars a lesson to teach me how to communicate. This is a class, I need it, and I am convinced I will have a boyfriend after taking it. HAHAH! Yeah anyhow that is me in a nutshell at the moment. My new FHE brothers call me "big beare". I wasn't for "cuddles" as Joe tried to call me... HAHA no, I think not. Well love you all and keep in touch.

Needing an update?
So I don't know what to necessarily write about. My new favorite song is Hey Brittany- totally depicts my life. Or California Girls (beach boys!). I look a lot different then I did when I was back in Eureka during high school. I go about four days out of the week with a poof in my hair for my bangs which love to be static out here in IDAHO. I wear make up most days, not a lot but it should be interesting to see how people react when I go back. People from last semester sometimes mention that I look different, even my roommate Danna comments on how I look. I am learning to keep myself up and going I guess. Next semester my goal is to start working out. Well keep in touch everyone. I don't even know if anyone reads this. I am headed to the galley with Paola! Peace out my California loves! I miss you guys-
Love,
Teddy

Unforgetable times
Last Sunday was a time when the young people of the church showed the world what we stand for. We sent text messaging.... to inform the masses of the passing of our beloved Prophet and friend Gordon B.Hinckley. I personally will never forget the text message I received fro(m Steve at 8:02 Mountain time on Sunday (Jan 27) "President Hinckley just passed away." I was baffled, he was invinsible to say the least. I looked up from my phone and realized I was the one to break the news to the giggly girls in my dorm. We were havnig so much fun making jokes, eating, and trying to say hello to Paola's mother who was on the phone. "Hey girls, hold on I have to tell you something." A momentary silents hushed the girls. "President Hinckley just passed away...." At first they were like "no, really... that's not funny." Then Paola told her mom who lives in Layton,UT. The confirmation came when Claudia (Paola's mom) turned on the t.v. It was true.
Each girl dealt with the news differently. I called my sisters and mother. After about 30mins the girls and I realized we were still incharge of Dorm prayer for Chapman Hall... and tonight the room would be packed if the news was spreading as fast as my 3 or 4 different text messages just to my phone alone in a 20minute time frame. We decided to change the theme of dorm prayer from Families Can Be Together forever to honoring our Beloved Prophet Gordon B Hinckley... or Gordo! As my roommates refer to him as. To say the least President Hinckley is loved and remembered her at BYU-Idaho.
Today was the funeral services for Pres. Hinckley. BYU-Idaho students were seen wearing their modestly plain church dress, mainly black. Our campus has been blessed through the passing of President Hinckley. There has been a humbling and servicable attitude upon campus which has lifted the Ricks Spirit high.

the dorm is a storm
The Spirit is actually.... you wont believe TAPE WORMS. It's been confirmed from a Return missionary.
You can contract this worm investation by walking a round bare foot and then the worms will go up your feet.
In Brazli if you want to become the ultimately cleansed missionary you buy 3 gallons of bleach and scrub it all over the "bathtub" floors. (note: I know Brazli doesn't have bathtubs, I am not an idiot!)
When you go on a mission, do random activites. Like strangle oversized cockroaches.
Or see the sights of the Brazlian toliets which are rat invested. Yes the toliets. Nasty!
On a serious note realize that death and blood are common in Brazil. The power of God is with the missionaries, so pray for them and be with them whether it is dealing with the silly stories after like worms and rat neighbors or it is on the serious side with shooting, drug killings- sad beans!

My new life
College classes here at BYU-Idaho began yesterday. I absolutely have enjoyed all of my classes. Only one of my classes so far has me standing friendless out of four which I have attended. I guess I decided to write a little blog blurb because my life has changed drastically in the past two years. My junior year would have ended about two months ago. I was receiving praise for being named on the all- league team, but I was begining to realize high school was nearly over. That's when I decided to make the life change which got me here. I told my parents I needed to improve my grades and the LDS Business College wasn't the college I needed to attend. My parents were a little edgy about this sudden change and the fact that I really didn't know what I wanted other than to get out of Humboldt, go to a University/ JC and to be educated in a church enviroment.... just not LDSBC.
This was also about a month away from when I started the Chamber of Commerce Youth Ambassador program and taking in a girl who changed my career goals. I just love thinking about my Junior year experiences. That's when everything I was geared towards became shifted towards my eternal passion of service.
I love serving more than I ever did soccer or guys :) Now that I have found my place I feel as though I am where I have always been destined to go. Crazy to think that when Ricks college became BYU-I I was in middle school going, what college? Is that important? Little did I know that the OLD Ricks college I would call home only a few short years later. I miss everyone but I have found my place in this little old zion which stays youthful because of the Spirit of Ricks living through all who help maintain the presence of the Holy Ghost. I grow continually and I couldn't have asked for anything more spiritually uplifting.
Well I have a ton of homework so I better get to work. Good news is that, I am ahead in a lot of my classes! I really enjoy studying now but I have to try and keep focused to truely grasp all that I am studying. Comment back, email me.... I want to keep in touch with everyone.
Be safe in whatever place you are. Love you all!
Your little Beare,
Brittney
