Dreaming of Idaho

Lately Lakeport has begun to make me looney. Some seem to find that a bit too entertaining. My heart is not in Lakeport anymore. I think it took the first plane, boat, train back to Rexburg and is not waiting for me somewhere on the BYU-Idaho campus. Maybe at my favorite mexican food restraunts... either way it has been gone for a little over a week now.
I can't seem to convince it to return to me. My poor heart was going to come visit for X-MAS because I was going to stay in Eureka... but plans changed I am suffering the consequences :(
hahaha ok so that was like so completely emo. I think that made me a little to happy to write out my emotions about living in this town. I have so much to tell people. I was asked if I would accept a scholarship for Student Living. That is the program that I have been working with at BYU-Idaho. They are getting rid of the RA system and instead trying to implement a higher law where the students are holding up the standards. Then there are other things like boys, friends, classes, a social life.
I am looking forward to so many elements of college this coming year. I am trying hard to put my faith in Heavenly Father. Next semester should be intense but I know I have some special people that will keep me going. :)
Ok well until I am there... I will be dreaming of Idaho.

Unseen blessings.

When I left Idaho last summer I never could have imagined the wonderful blessings that awaited me in California. Two weeks after I got home from school I was swept on up to Eureka to help the Davis family. I was so nervous. Being only 19 years old and not really knowing what I was to do. Babysitting the Davis kids was not a new thing to me. I loved babysitting for them because the kids were very loving. But being a nanny made me nervous especially because I was to nanny for people I knew and respected so much. The circumstances were also not common. I was nannying for the Davis family, but sister Davis would be there. She would observe what I did and how I handled myself. That was extremely nerve racking. Little did I realize that Heavenly Father had a plan and it was much deeper than simply nannying for the Davis family.
I have gained a deeper understanding this past summer/fall that Heavenly Father has a greater plan, than even I could have assume. Just thinking about all the marvelous things that have accompanied me in one year seems to put me into awe. During the winter semester I had wanted to go work during the following fall (2008) in an orphanage, then I wanted to be a nanny. I found several things I desired but never felt that I should commit to. Then during the summer semester I was hit with the answer to return home? haha what? No way! I love BYU-Idaho and if I can't do something fun, I really didn't see the point in leaving. I decided to test Heavenly Father, yeah that does not work... I was like ok I will say I am going home, be like Abraham with his son Issac. hmm... yeah. Then I actually did go home. During the process of planning my return to my parent's house. My dad and mom were very skeptical of this idea. Me having no social time could cause a lot of "issues" haha. Never the less they allowed me to return and my dad was convinced I would only last two weeks in Lakeport.
He was right. Because on the Saturday that marked two weeks I was taken to Eureka!

My older Sister Nicole would babysit for the Davis family before I ever did. Once though Nicole was unable to babysit and I was called over, then it became my role to help babysit for the Davis family. Immediately I was overwhelemed with the attitude of the children, and the parents. Both Bro. & Sis. Davis expressed a great appreciation for the service I was able to provided them. I adored babysitting Emily because she was so easy to put to bed. I would lay her down with her "blankey" and she was OUT! No joke. Spencer was a talker.... he tired me out but I realized the great knowledge he would have one day. I always felt appreciated by the entire family.

Diana Davis and I had the opprotunity to know one another while she served in young womens. During the summer before my senior year I rode up to Girl's Camp with Diana and Nancy Craig. They also took a young girl who had a hard life. While traveling I was able to really understand who the two women were that sat in the front seat. Sister Craig got lost and Sister Davis told hilarious stories about her experiences at Girl's camp. By the end of the trip. Diana and Nancy had taken me both ways and had talked to me about Social Work, and sacred things. Diana was pretty much the woman I looked to as a younger mother who had such great faith in Heavenly Father.

Little did I know throughout the years, Sister Davis was being prepared for a time when I would help keep her house together. The little unseen miracles that keeps Heavenly Father smiling I am sure of it.

Serving at the Davis house where the heck do I begin? Honestly, what I did was amazing. I gained a testimony in so many areas. Ok I think I will just tell a few short experiences.

kids: Spencer 8, Emily 3, Adam 1 1/2, Samuel unborn.

* Spencer had the flu so he stayed home sick from school. I don't remember if he had thrown up by this point. But Bro. and Sis. Davis were i their bedroom talking when Carin Lund showed up. Completely out of the blew, she said she felt she needed to just stop by. She sits down on the paino bench after I explain that we are fine, but Spencer is sick. She and I were talking when she looks over at Spencer and tells him he isn't looking so shabby. Almost immediately Spencer begins the throw up process... I was HORRIFIED. I hate blood, poop, urine, and throw up. Spencer ended up throwing up. Sister Lund immediately began cleaning it up in the bathroom.. because Spencer failed to make it on time. Then she turns to me and says- "I can leave now." Heavenly father knew at that time I was not ready for that type of situation... he sent me an angel.

* Too bad those times didn't last. :( Yes, I am afraid I dealt with ever single one of those ugly situations. I changed diapers, I cuddled babies, cleaned poop of walls and bums. Cut baby fingers, peeing on pants at the park, cried for my mom "she is far far away" (Thanks Emily) There is something very sacred in carrying for a child who needs you to provide for them.

* Thinking of late nights at the Davis house crack me up. My ice cream time was after the kids, so was bonding time with Diana and Tony. I learned that compromise is important and loving your husband even with his flaws. The simple moments I had with those two will forever be engrained in my heart.
